Chris says goodbye to Cape Town and Namibia

We had a final morning in Cape Town and it was the best weather day of the week. So you know what that means... off to Table Mountain. This time we took the cable car up and down. Views are astounding. Highly recommend if you visit Cape Town. Overall, it was a good trip. We highly recommend visiting both Namibia and Cape Town. Chris goes to the Cape of Good Hope

We continued today with the list of the usual suspects of Cape Town... we drove down the coast to see the penguin colony. These are African penguins who only live in Namibia and South Africa. After visiting with the Penguins, we continued down the coast all the way to the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. The Cape of Good Hope is the most south western point in Africa. It was cold and windy at the top of Cape Point. After lunch, we drove back towards Cape Town stopping at the Botanical Gardens. At this point, we are officially out of steam for seeing the sites. We cannot absorb any additional information. The weather also turned cold and rainy which is hardly the best weather conditions for touring gardens. Tonight is our last night in Africa. We will do some quick touring in the morning before our early evening flight back to London.

Chris eats in Cape Town

We had a fun culinary tour of Cape Town today. It was raining so we started with a quick tour of the city by car before stopping at Our Local, a great breakfast spot near our hotel. After breakfast, we had a biltong (like jerky) tasting before going into a local supermarket to understand how the locals eat. After biltong, we went to a tea tasting to learn about rooibos tea. Rooibos tea is made from a plant which grows only in South Africa. Cape Town has the most diverse plant life of any place on earth. Our tour guide was very good and we learned the history of Cape Town while munching and drinking. I had no idea that Cape Town was essentially colonized by the Dutch East India Trading Company. I've added Dutch East India Trading Company to my reading list. After tea, we walked a bit through the center of the city stopping at some historical sites such as St. Gregory's Church where Desmund Tutu was Archbishop. More topics added to my reading list.
