Our minds are officially blown.
Every July, 2 million wildebeest, 700,000 zebra and thousands upon thousands of antelope migrate north from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya.
I am not exaggerating when I say that we easily saw 1 million animals today. Close your eyes and imagine what that looks like. Imagine animal upon animal all mostly moving in a northernly direction for 360 degrees all the way to the horizon.
I tried to capture some pictures but it is nearly impossible to convey what it looks like from a few photos.
Since many of the animals get hurt crossing the Mara River, the lions camp out along the migration path and easily pick off some of the weaker ones. These lions are downright obese.
Warning: graphic images ahead.
Here are 2 lions munching on a wildebeest. The sound of tearing flesh is as bad as you can imagine.
And this lion is definitely saying "I can't believe I ate the whole thing."
This was our view during breakfast
Henry and I resplendent in our matching safari jackets
We also saw a cheetah and some cheetah cubs
And lots of ostrich
Literally, a stone's throw from country #50
Tomorrow, we have a quick game drive in the morning and then fly up to Nairobi. We spend tomorrow in Nairobi before continuing on to another and much different safari place in Chyulu Hills.
Truly remarkable, that first picture before I read the post was mind blowing! Looks as if it was a good decision to go! Enjoy and travel safe.........
