Seen in our hotel
We have arrived in Siam Reap, Cambodia. Easy trip. Brand new airport here in Siam Reap and the eVisa made immigration very easy.
Siam Reap is a vibrant city entirely dependent on the tourism trade generated by Angkor Wat. We saw hotel after hotel on the drive in from the airport. Crossing the road and navigating intersections is a choose your own adventure. There are no crosswalks or traffic lights. You have to be very aggressive and just kinda go.
We are staying at the Shanti Mani hotel in the downtown area. Here's my room:
For dinner, we went to Malis, a restaurant made famous by Anthony Bourdain. I'm not sure if the food at Malis is typical of Cambodian food but, where Lao food is unusual, Cambodian food was familiar. Cambodian food is sweet where Lao food is bitter. Cambodian food is flavorful where Lao food is earthy.
Scallops
Semi-wild (whatever that means) Chicken
Dessert
And since it is Halloween, from the bar at Malis
We have an early morning tomorrow and full day touring Angkor Wat.
