Everglades. Alligators. Turtles. Birds. Did I mention the alligators?
Butch and I did an air boat tour of the Everglades today. Our tour operator was Buffalo Tiger. I'm hardly an expert on air boat tours but this was fun so I'd recommend our operator.
Male alligator...
And baby alligators too...
We learned the difference between Crocodiles and Alligators. One of the main differences is that crocodiles are much larger and more aggressive. We would not be floating close to them in a boat.
We spent the rest of the afternoon at either the beach or the pool. The ocean water was warm but really rough. I thought I was going to drown trying to get back to the shore. Not fun!
In the afternoon, we walked up to the Fontainebleau Hotel. It's a massive resort so not the kind of place I'd like to stay. They do have a Frank Sinatra hallway though. So that's something.
Dinner was at Habitat. Stone crabs! They also have the most unusual carbonara that I've ever encountered. The pasta is curled up and served in the clam shell.
Tomorrow we drive north to Palm Beach. Staying at The Breakers; a bucket list hotel for me.

The Faena is a really nice hotel. I compared it to some of the others I considered when booking this trip and I like it the best. There is just something off about the service. The staff seem really distracted and can only answer questions about their particular job. Once you get their attention, the service is great but it is work to get them to focus.
It is a new renovation so only open as the Faena for 2 years. They've added some modern touches like keypads to call the elevator. However, the wifi is horrible. There should be a circle of hell especially for hotels that still have horrible wifi. I mean they have a Toto toilet with a lid that automatically opens and has a built-in light but I can't stream HBO Go from my room. It's 2018!!
