Check, Check, Done!

On our last full day in Charleston, we completed everything on my list.

First thing first, swim in the hotel pool.  Butch and I always try out the hotel pool.  Loved the retractable roof on this 4th floor pool at the hotel.

Next, Easter brunch at La Farfalle. Not that we had a bad bite of food this weekend but this was by far my favorite meal of the trip.

That's a poached egg on top of a lasagne carbonara

To fight off the food coma, John, Jordyn, Butch and I walked across the Ravenel Bridge. All 2.5 miles of it.  We had intended to just walk halfway to the top and then back but we realized that halfway was before the top. So once we got to the top, we decided to just continue to the other side since that was actually shorter than returning to where we started.  We were also quite thirsty because none of us thought to bring a bottle of water for our long, hot and windy walk. You'd think I would have learned my lesson after doing the exact same thing in St. Lucia.

After the bridge walk, the entire group took the ferry out to Fort Sumter for the educational portion of the trip. For those who don't know, Fort Sumter is the location of the shots that started the Civil War. I highly recommend this experience. It's a 30 minute ferry ride, followed by about 1 hour at the fort with a 30 minute return trip.

After Fort Sumter, Butch and I went to Leon's Oyster Shop for a round of drinks and some afternoon snacks.  No one should be surprised to learn that this meal was also excellent.  Leon's has oysters and poultry so Butch and I ordered some of each.

Leon's also had very strange bathrooms - the sink is on the back of the toilet and turning on the faucet flushes the toilet.

It's been a fantastic weekend. We are all just relaxing at the hotel bar now.
