It was an excellent weekend in Charleston. Great food. Great company. Great sights.
Here are the awards:
Best Meal - For me, everything at La Farfalle. For Butch, the pork chop at McGrady's Tavern.
Best Activity - Fort Sumter
Biggest Surprise - How dog friendly the Belmond hotel is. There was a constant flow of dogs through the lobby.
Would I go back? I absolutely loved Charleston but I think it's a one-and-done place. I did everything on my list and life is short so I can't afford too many repeats.
Another thing I noticed is that stickers are all the rage now. Almost every restaurant had stickers either on the counter or available for purchase.
One more tip for traveling in a group... Don't be afraid to do something on your own if you don't like the group's choice. For example, Butch and I went to Leon's Oyster Shop on our own. Also, if someone in your group wants to do their own thing then don't get annoyed. Everyone should be allowed to do what they want.
