It’s that time of year again. The time when that special group of friends turn their backs on the cold and head to the warmth of the Caribbean.
The destination is the same as last year but we’ve added some new people to the group. Dotty and Sam are joining us on this adventure. Tune in to see if they can rise to the challenge of days filled with nothing but laughing, eating and drinking.
Remember last year’s Trinidad-how-bad-can-it-be debacle? Well, snow is predicted again for the day we are leaving. It is one of those really unpredictable storms with forecasts calling for anywhere from nothing to significant accumulation. Not to be confused with spontaneity, unpredictability is not a thing I enjoy when traveling. I aspire to be spontaneous when traveling. Most of the best travel stories are about the unexpected experience, that special discovery, the off-the-beaten path adventure. I’m not afraid to throw the travel plan out the window nor do I plan every single minute of the day. On the other hand, nothing ruins a trip like unpredictable weather, canceled flights and hours wasted in airports. There is nothing glamorous about sitting at an airport bar all day. Because of this, Butch and I have decided to abandon the group and fly out before the snow on Wednesday evening. We are going to spend the evening in Miami before connecting to a late morning flight to Antigua. If all goes well, we will reconnect with our traveling companions at the Hertz counter in Antigua.
Stay tuned for updates…
